PIG INDUSTRY AWARD WILL SHOW OFF BEST
Nominations, from any sector of the pig industry, are now invited for the top pig industry award. To be presented at the British Pig and Poultry Fair in May 2006, this year’s Pig Industry Service Award will be presented to the person considered to be the most outstanding ambassador for the pig sector.
“Through this person and the awards in general we can show off a first class industry, that is the envy of many other countries, to Government and to consumers,” says Andrea Rutledge from the Royal Agricultural Society of England, the Stoneleigh-based organisation that runs the Fair and is sponsoring the award.
Nominations can be from practical pig farming and pig unit management or from allied trades or pig industry organisations. “Pig producers should not hesitate to send in names of anyone who has particularly helped them personally or has helped their business through work on behalf of the industry,” adds the National Pig Association’s Digby Scott. “All nominations will be considered by a panel of independent judges.”
Nominations for the Pig Industry Service Award should be faxed to 01507 313997 or emailed to aliceb@rase.org.uk by 20 April with a brief reason for the nomination and the nominators contact details.
The British Pig and Poultry Fair is open from 9am to 5pm on Tuesday 9 May and from 9am to 4pm on Wednesday 10 May. More than 300 exhibitors are expected to attend and at least 10,000 visitors. Entrance and parking are free.
