Ed Barker, Senior Policy Advisor, National Pig Association
Ed's career has combined farming and politics working, starting out life in the House of Commons working as a parliamentary advisor for a Suffolk MP. Prior to this, Ed was national agricultural advisor for the Country Land and Business Association (CLA), based in London. He represented the European Landowners Organisation at European Commission meetings in Brussels and was the lead within the organisation on the Basic Payment Scheme, Bovine TB and CAP reform. Prior to the joining the National Pig Association, he undertook farm management consultancy work for Cheffins, based in Cambridge and Ely, managing a large mixed farming estate in Northamptonshire and overseeing a number of farm businesses. Ed was brought up on a Suffolk farm, E J Barker & Sons, an arable enterprise which was in pigs until 2006. He has a first class degree in European Politics and an MA in the same subject, and can often be seen musing on twitter @edbarkerpig mostly about the UK pig indsutry and Brexit, but also Ipswich Town and Northampton Saints.
